Accounts Assistant – Purchase Ledger

Reports to: Finance Manager

Hours: Full-Time, Fixed Term

Location: South West Depot

 

Job Purpose

Power Electrics are searching for an Accounts Assistant to be an integral member of the Finance team in our South-West headquarters. Reporting to the Finance Manager, the main responsibility will be to assist all areas of the Purchase Ledger department. The role would suit an individual seeking a career in a fast-paced company who has keen attention to detail and an autonomous work ethic.

The successful candidate will be a quick learner, flexible and self-motivated with a strong desire to contribute proactively to the team and wider organisation.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Process a high volume of purchase invoices to the payment stage efficiently and accurately.
  • Match invoices to purchase orders and goods received.
  • Initiate and follow up on invoice queries/disputes, working with suppliers and internal staff/managers.
  • Address supplier queries promptly and professionally to maintain strong relationships.
  • Perform supplier statement reconciliations for accurate financial reporting.
  • Prepare supplier payment runs.
  • Review and process all Company credit cards.
  • Investigate all incomplete purchase orders and provide a monthly report of all outstanding PO’s.
  • Setting up new suppliers on the system and ensuring the existing database is well maintained and updated.
  • Generate weekly aged creditor reports and resolve all credit balances and disputes.
  • Ad-hoc work as required in the Finance department.
  • Comply with the Company Health & Safety Policy, including carrying-out general housekeeping to ensure work areas are kept tidy.
  • Comply with all aspects of the company ISO 9001:2015 procedures, proactively contributing to the company’s continuous improvement programme

 

Skills & Experience

  • Previous purchase ledger experience essential.
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills.
  • High Accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Good IT skills, with previous knowledge of InspHire advantageous.
  • Work well under pressure and to tight deadlines.
