What is the job?

As one of the largest generator specialists, our mission is to explore new opportunities where reliable power is critical and continue to grow sustainably in current markets.

You will support the Service team in the preparation, testing and repair of electrical equipment both on our premises, and external sites throughout the UK. You will be liaising with both external customers and various departments within Power Electrics so excellent communication and customer service skills are paramount.

What will you be doing in this role?

  • Preparation of single and three phase rental equipment ranging from but not limited to; AMF panels; distribution boards; isolation panels and transformers. Perform electrical testing, inspection and record results in line with Company policy.
  • Conduct functional testing of electrical rental equipment and record results in line with Company policy.
  • Preparation of rental cables ranging from but not limited to; single cables up to 240mm²; single & three phase multicore cables up to 35mm². Perform electrical testing, inspection and record results in line with Company policy.
  • Assemble rental cables and accessories using, but not limited to; lugged connections; Powerlock connections; ceeform plugs and sockets in line with Company policy.
  • Inspect and prepare DNO connectors ready for hire. Carry out repairs where required.
  • Troubleshoot electrical control systems to diagnose faults, identify faulty components, assist with sourcing parts and repair.
  • Plan and prioritise tasks to manage workload efficiently through the electrical bay.
  • Liaise closely with the Operations Team to update fleet availability and identify any shortfalls.
  • Carry out Site Surveys to assist sales where required.
  • Provide general assistance in the yard, including off-hiring, loading and offloading equipment. Report damages of returned equipment to the Operations Team within a reasonable timeframe in order to pass costs on to customer.
  • Comply with the Company's Health & Safety and Environmental Policies, including carrying out general housekeeping to ensure work areas are kept tidy.
  • Comply with all aspects of the Company’s ISO standards: Quality management - ISO 9001:2015 / Environmental - ISO 14001: 2015 / Occupational health and safety management - ISO 45001:2018, proactively contributing to the company’s continuous improvement programme.

Skills and requirements

  • Qualified Electrician
  • Preferably an approved/recognised Certificate of Apprenticeship
  • Previous experience within the rental industry preferable
  • Previous experience of generator control systems advantageous, however training can be given
  • 17th / 18th Edition qualification (City & Guilds Level 3 Award in the Requirements for Electrical Installations BS7671: 2018)
  • Forklift Licence advantageous, however training can be given
  • Holder of a current ECS or CSCS card preferred
