Generator Engineer

Job Title: Generator Engineer (Containagens) 

Reports To: Containagen Supervisor

Hours: Full-Time (40 hours)

Location: Warmley, Bristol

Job Purpose:

Power Electrics is the largest generator specialist in the South West. We now have an excellent opportunity for someone to help us meet the growing demand for our services. You will be joining a small team responsible for the repair, refurbishment and testing for the fleet of Containagens. This is mainly a depot­based role but you may occasionally have to travel to customer sites.

Key Tasks & Main Duties

  1. Be responsible for the refurbishment of engines, service, maintenance and overall upkeep and appearance of damaged or non-functional containerised generators (20kva - 200kva) ensuring a good stock level is kept at all times, to support the Rental fleet.
  2. Liaise with the Parts and Fabrication departments when ordering parts or repairs.
  3. Prepare and service generators for all departments as and when required.
  4. Drive forklift in yard as required.
  5. Carry out servicing and repairs to Power Electrics and customers' equipment off site as and when required.
  6. Participate in the call-out rota. (following suitable training)
  7. Comply with the Company Health & Safety Policy, including carrying out general housekeeping to ensure work areas are tidy.
  8. Comply with all aspects of the company ISO 9001:2015 quality management standards, ISO 14001: 2015 environmental management standards and occupational health and safety management best practice, proactively contributing to the company's continuous improvement programme.

Skills & Experience Required

  1. Possess a relevant qualification in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering /Diesel Fitting /Plant i.e. City & Guilds, BTEC or equivalent OR to have previous experience and knowledge of generators or diesel engines. ESSENTIAL
  2. Full Driving Licence Essential (with towing categories preferred)
  3. Fork Lift Truck Licence advantageous but not essential as training will be given.
  4. Previous experience of working in a workshop environment advantageous.
  5. Holder of CSCS Card preferred but not essential
  6. Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team.
  7. Have a flexible approach to work as the needs of the business dictate.
