Logistics Scheduler

Job Title: Logistics Scheduler

Reports To: Assistant Depot Manager

Hours: Full Time - Monday - Friday 8:30am - 5:00pm (37.5 hours)

Location: Midlands

Job Purpose

To carry out the day to day scheduling of deliveries and collections of generators and associated equipment; also assist in the scheduling and programming of refuelling generators.

Key Tasks & Main Duties

  1. Work closely with the Assistant Depot Manager and Rental Controllers to schedule and programme delivery and collection of hire equipment using in-house transport fleet and external transport or agency drivers where applicable.
  2. Work closely with the Power Electrics fuel team to schedule and programme fuel deliveries using in-house transport and external transport or agency drivers where applicable.
  3. Produce and maintain Transport related paperwork (e.g. purchase orders, consignment notes, vehicle inspection sheets, delivery and collection notes)
  4. Support the Assistant Depot Manager & Rental Controllers with all aspects of admin duties with running the Midlands Depot, including holiday and sickness cover.
  5. Ensure all company vehicles and drivers comply with all relevant legislation, being supported by PE Bristol Transport Department.
  6. Troubleshoot transportation requirements as required, reporting any issues immediately to Assistant Depot Manager including lost or damaged equipment.
  7. Produce fuel management related paperwork (e.g. delivery notes, job sheets, purchase orders)
  8. Comply with the Company Health & Safety Policy, including carrying out general housekeeping to ensure work areas are kept tidy.
  9. Comply with all aspects of the company ISO 9001:2015 procedures, proactively contributing to the company’s continuous improvement programme.
  10. Be contactable outside normal working hours, as part of a rota basis, to provide support to Power Electrics out of hours Manager

Skills & Experience Required


  1. Good organisation and communication skills
  2. Suitable academic qualifications to demonstrate capability, i.e. school leaver qualifications to a good standard with an aptitude for maths, or proven experience in the area of transport management / scheduling
  3. Attention to detail
  4. Strong IT skills and be able to use MS Excel
  5. Able to manage changing priorities in a fast-moving environment
  6. Ability to work as part of a team
  7. Have a flexible approach to working hours, as the needs of the business dictates
  8. Logistic and route planning experience


  1. Candidates without logistic / route planning experience, who have an Interest in the transport industry may be considered
  2. Working knowledge of legal requirements and how to comply with them, including but not limited to Drivers hours, vehicle and driver safety
  3. Geographical knowledge of the UK

The successful candidate will be given full on-the-job training and be expected to carry out these tasks in support of the Transport Department management.
