Rental Service Supervisor

Reports to: Rental Service Manager

Hours: Full-Time, Permanent

Location: South West Depot

Job Purpose

To support the Service Manager in delivering a responsive, efficient, and customer-focused rental service operation. The role oversees breakdown response, service scheduling, engineer coordination, and customer communication to ensure maximum fleet uptime and service performance.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage rental breakdowns and technical helpdesk enquiries.
  • Maintain accurate records of breakdowns and remote repairs to support performance monitoring and informed business decisions.
  • Use technical knowledge and video support to diagnose and, where possible, resolve faults remotely.
  • Coordinate engineer response and plan preventative maintenance.
  • Monitor service activity and identify recurring issues.
  • Participate in the company on-call rota (following training).
  • Schedule engineers effectively to maximise utilisation and minimise downtime.
  • Liaise with the Parts Department to ensure timely availability of components.
  • Maintain accurate service records and diary management.
  • Map new contracts and assign engineers accordingly.
  • Manage the boundaries of the service areas balancing the workload of the engineers.
  • Coordinate with depots to ensure engineer availability for planned work.
  • Act as primary contact for service-related enquiries
  • Arrange service visits and maintain clear communication with customers.
  • Provide daily support to Field Service Engineers.
  • Support smooth departmental operations in collaboration with the Service Manager.
  • Ensure compliance with Health & Safety, ISO 9001:2015, and ISO 14001 standards
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Comply with company health and safety policy
  • Comply with ISO H&S, Quality and Environmental Management procedures

 

Skills and Experience Required

  • Electrical or Mechanical background.
  • Experience in service coordination or technical supervision.
  • Strong organisational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of generators or similar plant equipment.
  • Customer-focused with good IT competence.
  • Forklift licence.
  • Experience within power generation or plant hire.
  • Experience working within ISO-certified environments.
