Rental Technical Support Engineer

Job Purpose

Power Electrics is the largest generator specialist in the South, providing standby and emergency power to meet the demands of a wide variety of applications and sectors.  We have an excellent opportunity for someone to join us at our purpose-built diesel generator rental hire depot in Warmley. 

Key Tasks & Main Duties

  1. Carry out Commissioning, Repairs and Electrical Installation of Rental Generators, change over panels and ancillary equipment
  2. Carry out Generator servicing / PDI when required
  3. Provide Technical Support to all Departments as required, including carrying out site surveys
  4. Provide technical assistance in planning and carrying out electrical solutions and repairs
  5. Provide training to customer personnel on the equipment installed
  6. Assist Technical Support Manager with technical matters and queries
  7. Attend site meetings with clients and advise on technical matters
  8. Assist clients with after sales queries and problems
  9. Provide workshop and yard support as and when required
  10. Carry out on-call duties in accordance with our ongoing rota
  11. Comply with company health and safety policy, including carrying out general housekeeping to ensure work areas are tidy.  This includes company vehicles.
  12. Comply with all aspects of the company ISO 9001:2015 procedures, proactively contributing to the company’s continuous improvement programme.

Skills & Experience Required

Possess a relevant qualification in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering/Diesel Fitting/ Plant e.g. City & Guilds, BTEC or equivalent

OR to have served/completed an approved apprenticeship in Mechanical  /Electrical Engineering

OR proven experience servicing and repairing generator sets predominantly FG Wilson, Cummins  etc ESSENTIAL

Possess good fault finding abilities and strong communication skills

Previous experience of working in a Field Service / Technical environment advantageous

Full Driving Licence ESSENTIAL (with towing categories preferred)

Good customer awareness with the ability to respond to customers’ requirements effectively and efficiently

Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team

Holder of ECS Card preferred but not essential as training can be given
