Workshop Engineer

Reports to: Depot Foreman

Hours: Full-Time, Permanent

Location: South West Depot

Job Purpose

As a Workshop Engineer with previous experience of working with diesel engines, you will be responsible for ensuring the reliability and performance of our generator fleet.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform routine service, maintenance and overall upkeep on generators within the rental fleet.
  • Follow manufacturers’ recommended service schedules to ensure optimal performance.
  • Carry out repairs on customers’ rental generators which have broken down, on and off-site as required.
  • Assist with general tasks in the yard, including loading and offloading equipment.
  • Operate forklift equipment as needed.
  • Deliver and collect generators and ancillary equipment using company vehicles.
  • Refuel generators as part of the delivery process when required.
  • Provide servicing and repairs for Power Electrics’ equipment on-site, when necessary.
  • Participate in the company’s on-call rota system to ensure 24/7 support.
  • Assist with basic maintenance tasks, including equipment cleaning, and maintain a safe, tidy work environment in line with the Company Health & Safety Policy.
  • Adhere to relevant regulations and ISO standards (9001, 45001, 14001, 50001), actively supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Comply with company health and safety policy
  • Comply with ISO H&S, Quality and Environmental Management procedures

 

Skills and Experience Required

  • A relevant qualification in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, Diesel Fitting, or Plant Maintenance (e.g., City & Guilds, BTEC, or equivalent).
  • Alternatively, completion of an approved apprenticeship in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or equivalent proven experience in servicing and repairing large diesel engines (e.g. Perkins, Cummins).
  • Strong fault-finding skills and effective communication abilities
  • Effective communication skills for reporting and collaboration.
