Reports to: Workshop Foreman - Service Manager

Hours: Full-Time (Monday to Friday, 40 hours)

Location: South West Headquarters - Bristol

What is the job?

Our Workshop Engineers are tasked with the preparation, testing and repair of generator sets and come from a variety of backgrounds, such as the HGV, Bus, Automotive, LGV, Rail, Plant, Truck and Forklift industries.

Ideally, you will have experience doing similar work in the Diesel Engine repair industry, possibly with transmissions, gearboxes, and generators. We also welcome ex-military engineers to join our team.

What will you be doing in this role?

  • Servicing, maintenance, refurbishment and overall upkeep and appearance of damaged or non-functional generators
  • Provide general assistance in the yard, including loading and offloading equipment and driving a forklift truck as required (following suitable training)
  • Deliver and collect generators and ancillary equipment using appropriate company vehicles where required
  • Carry out duties on our company on call rota system (after training)

Skills and requirements

  • Knowledge and experience working with commercial vehicles, plant machinery / HGV vehicles
  • Mechanical/electrical engineering or diesel fitting experience
  • Familiarity with electronic systems and mechanical components (including engines and Alternators)
  • Ability to apply proper engine technical skills in inspection and disassembly
  • Experience of using proper testing equipment for effective repair and maintenance
  • We would expect you to have a relevant qualification in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering/Diesel Fitting/ Plant i.e. City & Guilds, BTEC (or equivalent)
    OR have served/completed an approved apprenticeship in Mechanical / Electrical Engineering
    OR have proven experience servicing and repairing generator sets, predominantly FG Wilson, Cummins etc
