Yard Labourer

Reports to: Yard Foreman

Hours: Full-Time, Permanent

Location: South Coast Depot

Job Purpose

This is an excellent entry-level opportunity for someone in the early stages of their career, working with the largest generator specialist in the South. We have a variety of customers who are looking for short-term electrical power generation solutions. In this role, you will support the Yard Foreman and our Rental team in preparing, testing and repairing diesel generator sets. Although mainly depot based, on occasions you may be required to travel to customer sites, so a full driving license is desirable.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the service, maintenance and overall upkeep and appearance of the depot’s Rental fleet.
  • Provide general assistance in the yard, including loading and offloading equipment.
  • Drive fork lift in yard as required, once training has been given.
  • Obtain hours and fuel levels of all generators returned by customers or Power Electrics’ own transport.
  • Assist in the servicing and repairs to Power Electrics and customers equipment off site if required.
  • When required, drive company vehicles to collect/deliver parts and any essential equipment (once training has been given).
  • Comply with the Company Health & Safety Policy, including carrying out general housekeeping to ensure work areas are tidy.
  • Comply with all aspects of the company’s ISO management standards in quality management and environmental management, as well as health and safety best practice, proactively contributing to the company’s continuous improvement programme.

 

Skills and Experience Required

  • Driving Licence
  • Fork Lift Truck Licence
  • Previous experience of working in a workshop environment
  • Holder of CSCS Card
  • Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team
  • Have an enthusiastic and flexible approach to work as the needs of the business dictate.

Monday to Friday 12am to 4am Double Time
Monday to Friday 8am to 5pm Standard Time
Monday to Friday 5pm to Midnight Time and Half
Saturdays 12am to 4am Double Time
Saturdays 4am to Midnight Time and Half
Sundays & Bank Holidays All hours Double Time
