Sandwell Hospital
Power is important to any business but in a hospital setting having a backup power supply can literally save lives.
The Challenge
To provide a new LV distribution system, backed up by standby generation to replace the hospital’s existing generators. The three new generators were installed in an N + 1 system and are fully synchronised to ensure a continuous supply in the event of mains failure.
The Solution
The three new generators were installed in an N + 1 system and are fully synchronised to ensure a continuous supply in the event of mains failure.
A key requirement of the project was to maintain low noise levels in order to meet planning conditions. Our fabrication department was an integral part of the solution. Working from in-house CAD drawings, they manufactured four bespoke acoustic enclosures to house the generators and switchgear along with acoustic screens to surround the generator compound. The completed project was rated at 65dB(A) at 1m.
