Stage V for Tier-One Construction Company

A tier-one construction company required a temporary power solution for their customer’s newly constructed buildings while waiting for an upgrade to the mains electrical supply. Power Electrics was engaged early in the project to help design and implement a resilient temporary power solution that would also reduce the emissions that were released.

Stage V On Construction Site

The Challenge:

The key challenge was to provide a temporary power supply that could reliably meet the site's energy needs while minimising emissions. The customer required a solution that ensured sufficient capacity without over-provisioning and included redundancy to safeguard against any unexpected power failures. The Wiltshire-based site had some space constraints for the power equipment, so these also needed to be factored into the design phase.

The Solution:

Power Electrics worked closely with the construction company from the early stages of the project to identify and clarify the specific power requirements. This involved analysing minimum and maximum load profiles and assessing available space for equipment placement. Through this close partnership with the customer, Power Electrics could support them with a highly efficient and practical energy solution.

To meet the power demands, Power Electrics supplied two 550kVA Stage V generators, synchronised together to provide a combined output of 1.1MVA. Stage V generators were selected to help reduce emissions compared to traditional alternatives, aligning with the customer’s sustainability goals. In addition to providing the generators, Power Electrics also managed the site’s fuel requirements, ensuring a seamless and uninterrupted power supply.

The temporary power solution successfully provided the necessary capacity while maintaining reliability and redundancy. By utilising Stage V generators, Power Electrics could support the construction company, and their client, significantly lowering the emissions of the temporary power solution.

The early involvement of Power Electrics in the project allowed for a well-planned and optimised approach, ensuring that the temporary power system was both efficient and cost-effective. The customer benefited from a solution that not only met immediate power needs but also aligned with their sustainability objectives.
