Subsea Cable Installation
The Challenge
To supply two 1250kVA generators to power subsea cable installation equipment for a global submarine communications company.
The Solution
With this challenge in mind, the Power Electrics team came up with the perfect solution. The generators were loaded on to the boat using dock cranes, shipped over to the site and put into action.
The two 1250kVA generators provided power for the motor reels that are used to lay the cable and were set to work in ‘Runner – Standby’ configuration, meaning that power would not be lost in the event of a fault with one of the generators.
Bespoke service packs were also provided to enable regular on board maintenance.
