Power Electrics' Founder Passes Away

In November 2024, Ambrose Pullin, the founder of Power Electrics, passed away peacefully in his sleep. As a close family company, this sad news has naturally affected many who work for or with the organisation he started over 60 years ago.

Ambrose founded Power Electrics with his brother Patrick in 1963 with four ex-military generators. Ambrose was a qualified electrician and his brother fitted planted equipment – as a team they had the right set of skills for a successful power hire company. They started Power Electrics in a small yard in Stoke Gifford.

After 25 years of working together, Patrick passed away, leaving Ambrose to run the business alongside his wife, Christine. It was around this time that their two sons, Andy and John, started working part-time at the company while still at school.

Andy and John joined Power Electrics full-time in 1989, working alongside Ambrose and a small but growing team. For around a decade, Ambrose worked with his sons, ensuring they gained a deep understanding of the business, its team and its customers. In 1998, Ambrose retired and left the running of the company to Andy and John.

Over the following 26 years, Ambrose watched the organisation he founded grow into an ever-larger and more successful company. He enjoyed visiting the offices and was present for the company's major milestone celebrations – including John Pullin’s retirement party in November this year.

Ambrose Pullin will be deeply missed, but his vision and drive will continue to influence the company and his legacy will forever remain at the core of Power Electrics.
