Our Re:Power Programme
At Power Electrics, our Re:Power Programme extends the life of our fleet while supporting a more sustainable approach to temporary power. Through a structured three-part refurbishment process, we restore high-hour Containagens, overhaul canopied generators, and rebuild engines at our dedicated John Pullin Engine Centre.
Restoring High-Hour Containagens
We take high-hour Containagens (typically 30,000+ hours) and replace the existing engine and alternator with new units purchased from FG Wilson during the last buy-back period (2020–2022). The containers are then refurbished — dents are repaired in the fabrication shop, resprayed in green, and returned to fleet. This programme has been running since 2020.
Canopied Sets
For canopied generators, we remove the engine and alternator, replace the engine with a new FG Wilson OEM unit, and refurbish the alternator (cleaned, brushed up, and relacquered). The canopy is then resprayed, a new digital control panel fitted, and the set returned to service, some of the originals ones completed have already recovered £5,000 – £8,000 in revenue
Engine Rebuilds
We have also begun rebuilding old engines in the new John Pullin Engine Centre. Each engine is fully stripped down and rebuilt with the following components replaced or reconditioned:
- New crankshaft
- New pistons
- New oil pump
- Block rebored and resurfaced
- Con rods measured and checked
- Valves recut and reseated
- All gaskets replaced
These rebuilt engines are then stored ready for use in the refurbishment programme. Additionally, we’ve refurbished 15 Containagens for Stage V 60 kVA units — 10 have been completed so far and more will be built as utilisation increases.
